Senior Software Security Engineer

MuleSoft is looking for a Software Security Engineer, reporting to our Information Security department, and working side-by-side with Product, Engineering and Operations to ensure the trusted operation of all products and services hosted or maintained by MuleSoft.

We are looking for versatile engineers at all levels of experience who enjoy being deeply involved in all aspects of building and securing our platform. Qualified candidates will excel at analyzing the design of our software and implementations, and will show an aptitude for discovering complex security issues. We encourage our security engineers to present at application and security conferences and participate in the open source community.

What you'll achieve:

30 days:

  • Start building frameworks to provide secure defaults to engineering teams and tools that will automatically scan and detect security problems
  • Start reviewing implementation code of projects, identifying security flaws, suggesting and implementing remediations
  • Build, automate, and operate security review capabilities including static and dynamic code analysis across multiple technology stacks and languages
  • Start augmenting Continuous Integration pipeline to include security testing
  • Perform code audits on internal and open source libraries

60 days:

  • Triage reports from external researchers and drive confirmed issues to resolution with engineering teams
  • Provide training to engineering teams on application security related topics
  • Maintain awareness of industry security threats

90 days:

  • Be an expert on vulnerabilities and attack vectors that have the potential to impact MuleSoft, our partners, and our users
  • Keep current with latest security developments and leverage your information security experience in the new field of bioinformatics and big data genetics infrastructure

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Love of researching security vulnerability disclosures, proposing appropriate mitigations, and the challenge of making systems and processes both secure and easy to use
  • Strategic thinking that translates vision into tactical execution
  • Strong decision-making and project management skills
  • Innate ability to effectively prioritize work in a highly dynamic work environment
  • High personal credibility and integrity and natural ability to influence and persuade others through collaboration
  • Demonstrated expertise with security, audit, and protection tools
  • Track record of leading other technical teams to create solutions greater than the sum of its parts and developing security standards for cloud and on premise deployed software
  • A proactive nature to make data-driven decisions and manage complex initiatives from conception to deployment
  • Ability to anticipate threats, address security issues across any and all MuleSoft environments, and create scalable security solutions in a fast-paced production environment
  • Software development experience in one of the following core languages: Java, Javascript, and/or C++
