The QA Associate will manually check for bugs and document them for the Web Team in MuleSoft Digital Marketing. The QA Associate reports to the Web Director with guidance from the QA Tester and Lead Developer. The sites responsible include but are not limited to: https://www.mulesoft.com, https://developer.mulesoft.com, https://blogs.mulesoft.com, and https://connect.mulesoft.com. This job function is to inspect web pages for quality assurance during development, bug resolution, and automated processes.
The QA Associate will check web pages and components against approved design mocks. He or she will log discrepancies in a spreadsheet or ticketing system, and confirm any fixes.
The QA Associate will check our sites on various platforms, browsers, devices and screen widths.
The role will check or site functionality and make sure our user experience is working as expected.
This role will need to accurately communicate issues to developers and project managers.
The QA Associate will check new and existing pages against a sets of QA criteria such as SEO standards, web performance thresholds, editorial guidelines and branding style guides.
This role will run pre-built, automated tests and confirm issues or whitelist false positives.
This role will also examine routine reports on our site and determine if issues need to be addressed. They will log and document the issues.
The QA Associate will work directly with the QA Tester on any tasks related to manual QA work which can include working in large spreadsheets.
The QA Associate will also be asked to update content in our websites occasionally.
Deliverables
This position will:
Create and manage spreadsheets to document bugs or or issues
Communicate issues via spreadsheets, tickets, emails, Slack or in person
Follow up on issues if they are not done in a timely manner
Familiarize themselves with design mocks related to projects
Consult with the QA Tester or Lead Developer to confirm bugs
Confirm resolve tickets or issues
Produce supporting documentation if processes need to be updated or issues need more detailed explanation.
Skills
Proficiency in spreadsheets like Google Sheets, Excel or Quip
Great written communication in English
Good oral communication in English
Proficiency in navigating and inspecting design files in Adobe suite, Sketch or Figma
Proficiency in using web based tools for inspecting web pages, such as the Chrome inspector, Browser stack, W3C validators or Chrome web developer add ons.
Proficiency in using ticketing systems like Jira, Asana or Wrike
Understanding responsive web principles
Understanding of how HTML, CSS and JavaScript function in web development
