When we talk about copy, we refer to all the messages that intend to communicate what our brand wants to say to its audience, such as slogans, scripts, voicovers, etc. Copywriting on social networks aims to attract attention in order to stand out and ultimately generate engagement with our followers. As each social network has its own codes, here we will develop the main characteristics of copywriting on each one of them.

General rules for writing a good copy

There are 5 points that we have to consider when writing any attractive copy:

Facebook

Avoid promotional words because, and mainly, they are unattractive to your audience, on the other hand, Facebook's algorithms decrease posts that they identify as too promotional. The idea is to create a community

Take advantage of the multimedia content that this platform offers you. Photos and videos are much faster to process than texts, in any case, always pay attention to their quality.

The content has to be brief. It's proven that posts of less than eighty characters have 25% more engagement.

Always make a call to action, it's a good way of creating conversation within your post, which will later translate into engagement. Over time you will decipher what type of call to action better resonates with your audience.

Twitter

Although hashtags are an essential tool in this platform, they need to be used with control and only if they add value to the information. It is recommended not to use more than two per tweet.

Emojis are another very important tool on this platform, considering the limited characters that we can use, resorting to visual aids is very helpful, but it's always important to keep in mind that they must be consistent with the image and values of your brand.

Try to tag and mention other accounts to increase the interaction rate and engagement with your account. Also, always remember to respond to the tweets in which you are mentioned or tagged, whether with an emoji or an appropriate gif, to maintain interaction.

Twitter is the social network with the most movement in its content, which is why it's recommended to post from Monday to Monday and several times a day.

Instagram

It is recommended not to use more than seven hashtags per post, so as not to appear as a very commercial brand.

The main message should be in the first line of the copy, since it is fundamentally a visual social network, the audience will not click on "read more" if they were not caught with the first sentence. Hashtags are something complementary.

Again, the call to action is important, promotes comments by leaving a question for your audience in the copy.

Instagram is the most relaxed social network, so try to take advantage of this to speak in a fresh, cheerful and informal tone, always respecting the line and values of your brand.
