In the world of recruiting, sometimes, doing your job very well can have a paradoxical outcome: you end up jobless. This is exactly what happened to us recently with a client, a growing fintech startup.
When they started working with us, they needed to expand their IT team quickly, as their growth plan required adding highly specialized talent in very little time. They did not have an internal Human Resources team, so they asked us for help in building their technology team. For the next four or five months, we worked side by side, successfully incorporating team leaders (TLs) and senior technology and product profiles. In a matter of months, they went from being a small startup to having more than 60 collaborators.
However, with growth came new challenges. With a much more established team, their focus shifted towards internal management. Realizing that they needed a person dedicated to HR, they once again asked for our help. Thanks to our agility and response capacity, we again found the perfect profile in less than 20 days. Now, with a strengthened team, they have decided to manage their searches internally.
When doing your job well means becoming jobless, it can be an unexpected blow, but it's also a sign of success. We know that in the short term it may not be the most economically convenient situation, but we have always believed that the most important thing is to offer a quality service. If the company grows and is successful, sooner or later opportunities will come back: either the client will need our help again in the future or they will refer us to other companies who could benefit from our service.
Bridging gaps, like the work of a psychologist: if they're really good, there comes a time when you stop needing them. If you never achieve that independence, are they really good at what they do?
In short, even though it may hurt in the short term, providing good service always brings long-term rewards.
